HICKSON & DADAJEE PRIVATE LIMITED (HD), was previously a closely held Public Limited Co. incorporated in 1953 and promoted by Rane Family in collaboration with M/s. SULPHUR DYES LTD, UK (formerly known as HICKSON & WELCH LTD.).

In the year 2002, M/s. Flameproof Control Gears Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, FCG Group, largest manufacturer of Explosion-proof Electrical Equipments joined its hand with HICKSON & DADAJEE PVT. LTD., to strengthen the company's manufacturing activities.

In the year 1957, Hickson & Dadajee Pvt. Ltd. acquired its own 15 acres land at Goregaon (East), Mumbai and shifted the manufacturing activities from a hired factory site at Sewree to Goregaon site. Afterwards, the Company expanded its manufacturing activities and apart from manufacturing of Sulphur Black, started to manufacture the Optical Brightening Agents (Photines) being incorporated for making Soaps, Detergents, etc. The Company started manufacturing of Synthetic food colours and was pioneer in this field.
